Calculating Structural Loads for Lifting
Before deploying jacks, civil engineers calculate the exact total weight of the structure to select appropriate jack tonnage ratings.
Load Components
- Dead Loads: Weight of RCC slabs, concrete beams, brick masonry walls, plaster, and floor tiles.
- Live Loads: Estimated weight of furniture, fixtures, appliances, and occupancy.
- Safety Factor: Engineers add a 1.5x to 2.0x safety factor when calculating required mechanical jack capacities.
